Carob Gingerbread Men
(Yield 10-12pcs, about 4inch)
Ingredients:
125g Butter
20g Carob Syrup
180g Plain flour
10g Carob Powder
1tsp Ground ginger
1tsp Ground Cinnamon
Optional: Half an Egg yolk
To decorate:
Writing Icing
Cake Decorations
Method:
1) Cream the Carob syrup and butter together,
until the mixture mix well.
2) Then fold in all the dry ingredients,
flour, Carob powder, ground ginger and ground cinnamon.
3) You can skip this step if you don’t want to
add egg yolk.
Beat the egg yolk into the dough.
4) Blend until the dough become smooth,
wrap in Clingfilm and leave to chill in the fridge for 15minutes.
5) Preheat the oven to 170 °C. Line
baking trays with greaseproof paper.
6) Roll the dough out to a 0.5cm
thickness on a lightly floured surface. Using cutters, cut out the gingerbread
men shapes and place on the baking tray, leaving a gap between them.
7) Baking time is 25minutes.For thicker
gingerbread man, bake for 30minutes.
*Check until it fully baked, because different oven is different.
8) Leave on the tray for 5minutes and
then move to a rack to finish cooling. When cooled decorate with the writing
icing and cake decorations.
Remark:
For more eggy taste or non-vegetarian, can add half egg yolk.
